This role drives EU-targeted activities for a new programme on AI and climate governance, contributing to Climate Catalyst's mission to accelerate decarbonisation of heavy emitting industries.
What you would do
- Identify policy opportunities and contribute to determining strategic policy positions and recommendations for decision-makers and those who influence them.
- Build knowledge in climate governance and AI, focusing on policy mechanisms such as the Cloud and AI Development Act and the EU Tech Sovereignty Package.
- Synthesise AI-relevant policies and research developments into public-facing briefings for stakeholders.
- Work with NGO partners to develop policy positions and execute advocacy activities on climate and AI.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping, research, and analysis to identify strategies to engage key stakeholders, particularly business and investors.
- Strengthen relationships of trust with businesses, investors, business NGOs, trade associations and other private sector actors.
- Produce private sector-oriented outreach and policy advocacy materials, including memos, brief reports, letters of commitments, talking points, and more.
- Represent Climate Catalyst at relevant events and forums organised by partners and business associations.
Eligibility snapshot
Must have
- At least five years of experience working on EU policy making processes, including advocacy on emerging issues in technology or AI and climate at Brussels and/or member state levels.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in engaging policymakers and civil society in policy advocacy activities relating to climate change issues.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on organisation-wide strategies.
- Knowledge and understanding of key issues pertaining to AI and climate, or other industrial decarbonisation policies, and topics pertinent to Europe.
- Strong initiative and ability to work autonomously and within a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including ability to distil complex issues for a lay audience.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with civil society organisations and progressive business and investors.
- Right to work in the European country of residence.
Advantageous
- Experience in AI and climate governance is preferable but not required.
Contract and workplace context
This role is fully-remote, with a stipend available for use of co-working spaces.
