Press Officer (Dutch-speaking) is an opportunity at VVD-Delegation in the European Parliament · Full-time · Brussels, Belgium.
This role contributes to the VVD's mission to make the Netherlands and Europe safer, freer, and more prosperous by communicating the party's positions to voters.
What you would do
- Act as the point of contact for the VVD delegation in the European Parliament for media and press.
- Maintain active contact with a journalistic network at European and national level, handle press questions, and understand editorial workflows.
- Organize interviews and media appearances and help MEPs prepare for them, in cooperation with policy staff.
- Act as a sparring partner for the MEPs.
- Use sharp awareness of social and political current affairs to put the work of the VVD in Europe on the map.
- Support MEPs in their online communication approach on social media.
- Contribute to the permanent campaign and keep long-term objectives in view.
Eligibility snapshot
Must have
- Higher professional or university level of thinking and working (hbo- of wo-werk- en denkniveau).
- Affinity with VVD positions.
- Demonstrable experience in the field of public information and/or the political work field.
- Strong communication skills and work experience in a communication role, able to translate complex policy language for a broad audience.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment without a 9-to-5 mentality, willing to be reachable in evenings and weekends.
- Mastery of Dutch and English languages.
