What you would do
- Translate political work into strong messages in the press and seek media opportunities, focusing on audiovisual and printed press.
- Ensure Groen politicians appear in audiovisual media, radio and television.
- Contribute ideas to spread the political work of the factions and think together with the spokesperson and communication team about the broader communication strategy.
- Recognize news value in parliamentary files, weigh communication opportunities, and challenge or adjust proposals for stronger press output.
- Pitch ideas to journalists and increase press reach.
- Write and distribute press releases and web texts, and develop news lines and Q&As based on press files.
- Be the first point of contact for journalists and actively build and maintain a network of relevant journalists and media contacts.
- Take part in training parliament members and staff in press communication.
Eligibility snapshot
Must have
- Extensive experience with press communication or spokesperson work.
- Thorough knowledge of insights and techniques in press communication (structure of press releases, working with embargo, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of national political current affairs and the national political landscape (institutions and actors).
- Knowledge of Groen's vision, programme and priorities, and affinity with ecological thought.
- Ability to write accurate, compelling and accessible texts in Dutch.
- Good knowledge of French.
- Availability and flexibility to work outside regular hours when the situation requires it.
- Take part in a rotation with three people for weekend and holiday periods for urgent press communications.
